Melissa MacNair is the Senior Finance Manager. She maintains the financial records for both the core organization and the sponsored projects. Melissa is working on developing new systems to nurture MAP’s growth. Her core values include providing financial resources to burgeoning community projects and evaluating equity practices within standard business and financial practices.
Melissa is a sculptor, costume-maker, and arts organizer. After studying sculpture at the University of the Arts, Melissa transitioned to a career as a financial and business operations consultant for several arts and culture organizations in Philadelphia. She specializes in creative problem-solving and strategy to promote organizational health in small nonprofits. Her clients have included Ars Nova Workshop, BlackStar Projects, Headlong Dance Theater, and TILT Institute. She also worked with several small design and manufacturing companies and independent artists.
Melissa is co-captain of the Vaudevillains New Years Brigade, a social justice-oriented Mummers troupe and one of the only brigades led by queer women and gender nonconforming individuals. As their leader, Melissa is a core conceptual designer and lead fabricator in props and large puppets, as well as organizer for the group’s advocacy for inclusivity in the Mummers Parade at large. Melissa also currently serves as Board Treasurer for Headlong Dance Theater and as project advisor to White Box Theatre.
