Sarah Bernstein

People Operations Manager

Sarah Bernstein (she/they) is MAP’s People Operations Manager, leading internal people operations and organizational culture for MAP, while also providing HR administration, coaching, and support for sponsored projects.

Sarah recently moved to Philadelphia from Providence, RI, where she lived for 20 years. Sarah has worked with a range of organizations, supporting them to live out social justice values internally and externally.  She is trained as a youth worker and educator and helped to found a K-8 school–The Learning Community–in Central Falls RI where she started as a reading teacher and eventually served as the Director of Operations. Sarah then served as  Program Director at Farm Fresh Rhode Island, where she worked to develop a more just and equitable food system for farmers, food producers, and eaters across RI. Sarah was also a founding board member at RIOT (fka Girls Rock! RI).  Supporting people to thrive and creating values-aligned vibrant organizational culture has been some of Sarah’s greatest contributions and favorite pieces of work. She is excited to be part of that work at MAP and with its sponsored projects.

Sarah lives in West Philadelphia with her partner and very energetic toddler. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outside, identifying plants + birds with her toddler, and cooking. Sarah loves to sing in groups, and has sung with a wide range of choruses, including Trust Your Moves (Philadelphia), Assembly of Light (Providence), and A Besere Velt (Boston), which means A Better World in Yiddish.
