The Our City Our Schools coalition is made up of parents, educators, community members and students all fighting for local control of the Philadelphia schools and the end to the state-controlled School Reform Commission. The Our City Our Schools (OCOS) coalition formed in 2016 with a goal of abolishing the School Reform Commission (SRC) and regaining local control of the School District. The coalition’s work is dynamic and it responds to pressing education-related issues in the city. It is important for our movement to take note of the significant gains and recognize the people and groups that have led successful campaigns toward education justice in the past decade.
Movement Alliance Project works to build a healthy movement ecosystem where organizations succeed in making transformational social change. We collaborate with organizations and alliances to develop strategy, collectivize the administrative capacity emerging projects need, and convene groups to deepen the interconnection and solidarity within and across sectors of organizing.
