In 2015, Decarcerate PA, Philadelphia Student Union, 1Love Movement, X-Offenders for Community Empowerment, and the Human Rights Coalition – mobilized and stopped Council from authorizing $7.2 million dollars to buy land to build a new jail. In 2016, MAP joined #No215Jail coalition and supports them in the work to end the use of cash bail and end pretrial incarceration in Philadelphia, with a special focus on the City’s plan to institute algorithmic risk assessment into Philly’s pretrial decision-making process.
Movement Alliance Project works to build a healthy movement ecosystem where organizations succeed in making transformational social change. We collaborate with organizations and alliances to develop strategy, collectivize the administrative capacity emerging projects need, and convene groups to deepen the interconnection and solidarity within and across sectors of organizing.
